educationButton: Most people come to Abney Park for leisure activities, such as walking, bird watching, sketching etc or just to chill out. However, this unique woodland site is also a very important education resource for students of all ages to study wildlife, science, geography and history.

Our experienced education staff:

  • offer a hands-on approach to learning through fieldwork
  • support all fieldwork with education materials linked to National Curriculum for all Key Stages.
  • shape sessions to meet specific learning objectives and group needs

Themes covered include :

Foundation Subject Specials

In addition to our general education programme Cross Curricular Sessions are on offer to local schools:

P.E. (QCA Years 5/6) Orienteering in the Woodland.

Local Geography  (QCA Years3/4) and History Studies (QCA Years 5/6)  Based on the local area or Victorian influence at Abney Park Cemetery.

Sessions are available Monday to Friday, mornings or afternoons, and typically last for 2 hours. Contact our Education Officer Anna Smale.
We will need to know the number in the group, age, any special needs students may have, theme of the session, lunch arrangements.
