volunteering
Abney Park Trust is always looking for volunteers to help with the general maintenance of the site as well as specific tasks and projects.
Conservation Volunteer drop in days are 9.30am to 4.00pm every Tuesday and Thursday in 2008 with occassional saturdays as well.
Tasks are set to suit the volunteers ability. Volunteers are supervised and provided with tools, gloves and refreshments.
We can offer free NVQ training for more permanent volunteers, the main qualification we offer is the NVQ level 2 in environmental conservation, people will have to attend for a minimum of 1 day per week for 6 months, but normally longer, to complete this qualification.
People who want to volunteer or are interested in a certain aspect of the Trust or Abney Park should contact Lisa on 020 7275 7557.
Dates for Weekend volunteering 2006
TBA
Update: birds are already starting nest or prepare for nesting and the arboreal ivy provides great cover. Insects overwinter in the ivy. Birds such as woodpigeons can still feed on the berries that hang heavy on the ivy. We will be working to ensure that some of older trees as well as newer plantings have sufficiant space and light to promote healthy growth. Some of the woodchip paths will need renewing.
THANKYOU TO ALL OUR VOLUNTEERS!

Go london organises volunteer days across the capital and have come to abney several times to help us manage the cemetery- planting trees, clearance and pathwork. Always a friendly and enthusiastic crowd.
